The German Muscular Dystrophy Network (MD-NET) is a joint collaboration of medical professionals and scientists from all over Germany with a special interest in muscular dystrophies. MD-NET is funded as a "network for rare disorders" by the German Federal Ministry of Research and Education.

Muscular Dystrophies (MD) Muscular dystrophies (MD) form a clinically and genetically heterogenous group of inherited, progressive disorders of muscle. Common symptom of all MD is a progressive muscle weakness and atrophy, which vary in distribution and severity between the different forms of MD.

Scientific work within MD-NET is divided up into several projects focussing on molecular mechanisms underlying muscular dystrophies as well as the development of new therapeutic strategies for this group of dieseases.

Four Service Structures are part of MD-NET offering services to MD-NET research projects and coordinating collaboration within the network.
